Following Hungary’s coronavirus lockdowns in autumn 2020, and despite rising infections and increasing deaths, more than half (55%) of the country’s population was unsure about or against getting vaccinated against COVID-19 - one of the highest anti vaxxer sentiments in the world.

The Uniomedia team came up with a strategy for convincing more of the public to get a jab, coming up with Hungary’s first vaccination campaign on Facebook featuring the hashtag “#WhyIGetVaccinated.” Its objective was to promote a unifying sentiment: encouraging people to share their hopes and dreams for life after getting vaccinated, in spite of any debate over vaccine types.

Even without a budget, the initiative, nominated for an international Stevie award in 2021, was a smash success, reaching over 1 million people on social media and helping Hungary’s vaccination rate to increase by 22% in just three months.
